Coffee farmers everywhere are strugging to cope with the impacts of climate change on the way they farm and what they grow.  Farmers in El Salvador, which has few remaining natural forests, waning water resources and precious little high-altitude terrain, are perhaps being more acutely impacted than most.  That’s why many are making short-term changes to mitigate the negative impacts of climate change on their farms and adopting water-efficient post-harvest technology to reduce the strain on local water resources.  The coffee sector in El Salvador is also investing in longer-term adaptation strategies, including breeding more resistant varieties.
